stepconf woes..

Did you check and change the parallel port address when you tried the pci card?
The scope should show the step pulses when the axis is in moving.
The direction pin should show high or low depending on the direction the axis is moving.

No matter what I try the parallel port has a constant voltage of 5.26vdc on pins 2-7 this is without anything hooked up or with it hooked up with or with out EMC running. Any ideas??

So no one has any ideas why I would get a constant 5vdc? I get this on both the onboard port and a pci card port. I about to give up on this.............. its been 3 weeks

What type of parallel port settings does the BIOS allow?
This would effect the on board port.

Is it possible for you to try another computer?

Do you have another device that uses a parallel port that you can try on the computer?

I have tried every setting pertaining to the parallel port in the bios. The voltage reading is rock solid, it does not wander or change, it reads exactly +5.26 vdc. The other pins float at around 30 millivolts.
I have tried one other computer but did not check voltages. I will try the LED idea with the parallel port tester. Although I tried it once before, but that could have failed due to my lousy soldering skills.
