HI All
I just purchased a touch probe for my cnc machine, wiring the unit doesn't seem to be an issue my big question is how do I get EMC to use the probe. I checked the wiki docs and there is nothing under touch probe that goes into setting up and running with a probe. Is there an auto setting that will allow you to put in the min and max for x,y and z that will traverse the part I am probing or is this manually controlled ? Is there more detailed documentation someplace on the site that the search function is not picking up?

Thanks,
Joel

Have you discovered motion.probe-input yet?

linuxcnc.org/docview/2.5/html/man/man9/motion.9.html

Also, in 2.5 ngcgui has a probe subroutine adapted from smartprobe.ngc that would make it fast and easy if you do a lot of probing.

Thanks Rick and BigJohnT I will look into both of those. I will have to upgrade to 2.5 first. for Motion-probe. Any suggestion when I upgrade or should it be straight forward ?

Motion probe input is in 2.4 as well as ngcgui. In 2.5 ngcgui is much more flexible and easier to use IMHO. The two machines that I have running 2.5 from recent builds I used the liveCD to install 2.4 then uninstalled 2.4 and followed the instructions on the buildbot to add 2.5 IIRC.
