refresh my memory... do I set my soft limits in the stepconf wizard? or in EMC2 directly.

If you used the Stepconf Wizard you can open the file back up and set your travel limits there.

My table travel for X and Y are set to 0 to 8. I am using the Harbor Freight X1 Micro Mill.

How do I know what values to use here? Should I try -8 to 8?

The exact setup depends on how plan to use the mill. If for example you home the X axis with the table all the way to the right and have 12 inches of movement to the left you might set the soft limits to 0.5 and 11.5. It just depends on how much travel you have and if you want the soft limits to try and keep your machine from hitting the hard stops.

So could my problem be that I tried a -.25 Y axis movement, with my Y axis table travel set for 0 to 8?

Yes, if you were at Y0.24 or less and issued a G0 Y-0.25 and your soft limit is set to 0-8 that would give you the warning.

I tried to do a .25 Y axis movement as well (instead of -.25) that didn't work either. That was last night, I might have, weeeeeelllllll, um, actually I don't think that I thought to change the table travel to -whatever to +positive whatever.

I'll try it as soon as I get home.

Thanx,
