Ubuntu 8.10 + emc2 is not 100% supported.
You can probably install it, but I am not sure that bad things don't happen If you're running in a VM, then using the RT version doesn't really help, maybe try loading the sim packages. (replace emc2.3 with emc2.3-sim in your sources list, then install emc2-sim). To further debug your issue, I would need the output from dmesg (maybe clear it before starting emc2). Regards, Alex |

Hi
Thanks so far I had a little spare time so i decided to install the Live-CD 8.04 and the problem still exists I'd like to show you the dmesg after EMC crashes but the keyboard doesn't respond after the crash so I show it before and the rt kernel seems to be loaded (as far as i can read out of it) all though i took a look at the realtime script on line 148 ( etc/init.d/realtime ) but this is far beyond my knowledge to understand. I didn't load the sim installation but i will try next. -desktop:~$ dmesg [ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.24-16-rtai (root@hardy) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #1 Tue Sep 30 22:54:33 EEST 2008 (Ubuntu 2.6.24-12.22-generic) [ 0.000000] BIOS-provided physical RAM map: [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000000dc000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000003fff0000 (usable) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 000000003fff0000 - 000000003ffff000 (ACPI data) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 000000003ffff000 - 0000000040000000 (ACPI NVS) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec01000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] BIOS-e820: 00000000ffc00000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) [ 0.000000] 127MB HIGHMEM available.
