My scale is off by a factor of 5? 19 Apr 2012 09:43 #19377

Hello,

I have just assembled my motors lead screw and sheaves
- motor 600 oz in nema 34 - ?200 steps per rev?
machmotion.com/cnc-products/drives-motor...n-stepper-motor.html
- motor sheave 72 notches
- lead screw sheave 32 notches
- lead screw 3/4-6 acme

I calculated this to be 0.0018" per step, PnCConf confirmed this under scale setup.
but when I try to test the setup it is nearly 1/5 of what it should be? ie if i tell it to go 10 inches it will go 2

Any Ideas?

Thanks for looking.

doesn't gecko do micro stepping? if it does 5 time micro stepping then the scale would be wrong.

hmm gecko 203 does 10 x microstepping.
you need to account for that.
Inches per step would be .0001875
but the scale is what is important.
What scale did pncconf give you ? 5333.3333

But one would expect it to be 1/10 of distance rather then 1/5th - I wonder if something else is happening too...

then it seems you forgot to account for the micro stepping.
the gecko multiplies the 200 steps the motor has by 10.
