Im getting ready to fire up the new system
its a 5i23 running a 7i33 and a 7i44 (which has 2to 7i64s and a 7i70)

Is there a svss4_8 firmware for that setup?

Not in the default set. (I am not sure why).
I have attached one of the many versions of svss8_8.bit that I have lying about on my PC (which I was using until deciding I needed one with a 7i39 pinout too). This attachment is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

I loaded the new bit file and everything is working except for the 7i70 and I get the error attached.

Any ideas?

What version of LinuxCNC are you running?
Sounds like it may not be new enough
to support the generic sserial devices

That ought to work. Can you do the following:
Open two terminal windows.
Window1: halrun
Window1: loadrt hostmot2 debug_modules=1

Window2: sudo echo 5 > /proc/rtapi/debug

Window1: loadrt hm2_pci
Window1: exit
Window1: dmesg

And paste the dmesg output here ?
