Opinions of this Diagram for PNCconf.

Does it help? is it correct?
Is the A axis direction indicator right? (it indicates table direction)

I don't have a rotary so I don't know about the A... I would show the positive tool directions as that is usually what you see. Also I would make the tool direction arrows only point away from the center unless you made the centers of the lines cross and showed + and - directions. You might show the X axis through the center of the A so it is clear that the usual rotation is about the X... I think that is correct.

According to the right hand rule, if you sight along an axis from the positive toward the origin then positive rotation is CCW. Your diagram shows CW rotation on the A axis.

HOWEVER (and it wasn't obvious at first):

Since the part is rotating and not the tool head, the vectors are inverted, just as X and Y are inverted. Think of the X axis moving to the left, generating a positive displacement of the tool with respect to the part - same concept. So it appears your rotation is correct.

I suppose this rule applies whether the rotary head is facing left or right.

Yes Doug the A axis caught me too i had the diagram show the tool rotation first then realized i was wrong.

I'm not sure if the direction arrows on the top right are clear that they indicate TOOL movement not TABLE movement but I can add that to the text not shown.
Yes John I think I will add the A indicator to the top right too but of course again it will show TOOL movement.

I will make changes and post again. Thanks guys

I would still make the arrows all show positive tool movement in the upper right one, that seems to be what you always see when you google them or look in programming manuals for CNC machines.
