If the source highlighting for Gedit makes you get dizzy you can remove it by navigating to /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs and remove the ngc.lang file.

Open a terminal and say
cd /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs
sudo rm ngc.lang
