I just installed EMC on my Sherline Lathe.
When I click on the Lathe Icon, the lathe page pops up on the screen.
How do I activate the options on the "manual F3" screen and the "MDI F5" screen? All of the options are "grey" on the manual page and unusable.
All of the G code options on the MDI page are grey too, and unusable.
The "start", stop, and pause buttons are all light blue and they do not respond either.
I am sure there must be a parameter somewhere that will activate the options. There is nothing in the manual.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

a possible number of possibilities

you need the estop circuit connected as a closed loop , or emc thinks you have estoped ! and wont allow the program to start
also the machine needs to home first before enabling further controls

When you first start did you toggle the e-stop and toggle machine power?
They are at the top left corner or hit

F1 then F2

Rick G,
The "F1 then F2" was the answer. I figured it out through trial and error right after I posted the question. Thank you for the response.
