New to linuxcnc. Is there a way to configure a 3 axis lathe? Would be XZC or XZA depending on how you look at it. Lathe spindle has stepper for position control.

Did a search and couldn't find much on configuration. XYZA yes but XZA no.

Not sure I understand what you plan on doing with that lathe that you need stepper control on the spindle? Linux uses an index pulse and an encoder on the spindle to do threading.

[DISPLAY]
GEOMETRY = XZC

[TRAJ]
AXES =6
COORDINATES = X Z C

I think that is all you have to change in the INI file to start.

I will be trying this soon, when I finally get around to ordering the rest of the parts I need.
Do you have a picture of the lathe?
I dont think I've ever seen an XZA lathe (would have rotary axis parallel to X Axis)

The OP wants the C axis ( calling it A ) coaxial with Z and perpendicular to X, and using it for rotational positioning. ( if I'm understanding correctly ) This is common on turning centers with live toys.
