Hey all,

If you go to the download page, there is a link for the hybrid ISO, but this page just talks about how to burn it. I think I seen the link on gmane or seomthing like that, but can the link to the iso be added to that page? I had planned on doing ascreen cast on installing the software through a VM. That is if you all don't mind. :-)

Anyway, just thought I would point out that there doesn't seem to be a link readily available to it.

Thanks,

Joe Hildreth

If you follow enough links you end up here: article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.emc.user/52401

But yes, this is silly.

Thanks Andy,

I thought I seen it somewhere. Now I am off to grab a copy and do some test installs on a VM to see if I can create a screencast for it. :-)

Thanks again.

Joe

make sure the first thing you do is update , from current buildbot or packages , their are a few bugs ironed out
although i'm not sure the hybrid.iso is frequently updated , at this moment

Take another look at the download page and see if it is better now.

Hi John

Afraid I would find the top section on 2.6 confusing if I didn't already know where to look

The link for 'Download the Debian Wheezy ISO' (wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Hybrid_Iso)
does not contain the download link and is in fact about how to write the iso to USB stick.

The link 'Instructions to get the 2.6 LiveCD are here:' ( wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Hybrid_Iso)
leads to the same place and so does not give the url.

The only link that does lead to the URL is entitled 'Information about the Debian Wheezy ISO'
but this leads to an old gmane entry

The rest is fine and draws the destinction between the installable image and the standard Live CD

PS.

Nowhere does it actually say that this image can be burnt to DVD and installed that way.
(cue link to existing page on how to burn the image)

It might sound obvious, but a complete noob will be left with the impression that this is a USB stick install only,
whereas it is just an install that can be installed that way, rather than the Ubuntu USB installer that was crap and never worked properly.

cheers

To put my money where my mouth is, how about something like this
(I know you use text2html etc but gives the idea)

File Attachment:

File Name: edit-iso.h...8-14.txt
File Size:1 KB

regards

Ignore the extra right arrow braces, my editor auto-completed the braces and I did not notice  Fixed

Is this helpful regarding the Debian install?

Linuxcnc 2.6 is available as an .iso image that can be burned to DVD or USB stick.
Download here:
linuxcnc.org/binary.hybrid.iso

See the developers release notes and recommended download procedure:

Thanks folks.

My main concern was finding the ISO file. The new link takes you to a place where you can get it done. Sorry for the slow reply, My wife had surgery and have been busy with her.

My intention is to create a virtualbox and make a screen cast of installing and updating the software.

I am currently building a new cnc router, located here . The original plans had it running Mach3 and I plan on using LinuxCNC. Since there may be other new people to the hobby, I want to give as much general information as I can.

After I post the video to youtube, I will be happy to send a link if you guys want to share it.

Thanks for your patience and time gentlemen.

Regards,

Joe
