The EMC2 team has a custom Live-CD (EU mirror) based on Ubuntu 8.04 with emc 2.3.x included, that will let you try out EMC2 before installing, and it's also the easiest way to install Ubuntu and EMC2 together. (more) |

Hello John,
A comment on a section of integrator 's manual dealing with PID tuning ( the most recent bane of my existence)
John there is mention of Ziegler Nichols method. A reader might be misled by the instructions whihc omit to say that the Proporional gain needs to be increased and the loop must be exposed to external interference for example knocking the motor axis to cause it to move out of equilibrium in order to determine critical gain and period of oscillation.
please add the note to the text for future release.
